Introduction

There are many ways that you, your friends and the community can support Buen Dia.  When you support the school, we are not only able to upgrade classroom supplies, make improvements to the school facilities, develop curriculum, and invest in teacher enrichment, we are able to continue providing scholarships.  These scholarships are an integral part of creating a diverse, dynamic and representative community for our children.  Together we are able to accomplish far more than we could do on tuition alone.

There are two types of fundraisers: annual fundraisers and on-going fundraisers.

Annual fundraisers

Annual fundraisers include the annual auction and/or art show and three mail invitations to support specific funds. The Annual Auction/Art Show held in the spring benefits the Scholarship Fund.  This major spring event is organized by the parents for current families, alumni and the community.  Parents solicit gift certificates to restaurants and local businesses for the auction, children's art is displayed and there is some kind of live entertainment to look forward to.

Mail invitations to support the school include the Classroom/Curriculum Fund, the Annual Scholarship Fund and the Buen Dia Counts Endowment Fund.

On Going Fundraisers

On going fundraisers are in coordination with local retailers.  These retailers give Buen Dia a designated percentage of all purchases made at their store.  We have programs set up with local grocery stores, including Rainbow, Good Life, BiRite and Safeway, and Peet's coffee, Cole Hardware and The Ark, a local toy store.  Scrip to be used for grocery and coffee purchases can be mailed to you or your friends directly from Buen Dia each month, or it can be picked up at school.

Donations to Community Thrift and workplace United Way Donor Option Plan benefit Buen Dia most directly.  Buen Dia is also registered with schoolpop and escrip to receive a percentage based on your online and credit card purchases through these sites.

Amazon.com
If you're planning to buy something thorough Amazon.com, please come to this page first and click through to Amazon.com here. Buen Dia will earn a percentage of the sale as a commission and it will cost you nothing!

Community Thrift
Please donate your used clothing and household goods to Community Thrift, a non-profit organization, located at 623 Valencia Street. Our number is 195 and we earn 80% of the selling price. This is a good way to support two local groups!

Rainbow Grocery SCRIP
It looks like monopoly money but it's just like cash! When you buy $100.00 of SCRIP, it is worth $100.00 to you and when you shop, you receive cash in change. What's great for Buen Día is that for each $100.00 of SCRIP, Buen Día earns $10.00 (10%). This is an easy way to support the school; encourage friends and family to buy some too. We have SCRIP at school so you can buy it when you drop off or pick up your child or order it by calling Buen Día. SCRIP comes in $50's and $20's.

Good Life Grocery SCRIP
It also looks like monopoly money, but it's just like cash!  When you buy $100 of SCRIP, it is worth $100 to you and when you shop you receive cash in change.  What's great for Buen Dia is that for every $100 of SCRIP you buy, Buen Dia earns $7. This is an easy way to support the school; encourage your friends and family to buy some too.  Good Life SCRIP is good at both Good Life stores.

Bi-Rite Market
Bi-Rite Market, located at
3639 18th Street, will donate 5% of your purchases to Buen Dia. To participate, please inform the cashier at the beginning of your transaction that you are a friend or family of Buen Dia.

Peet's Coffee Gift Cards

Purchase gift cards for all your coffee purchases!  The cards are just like cash cards--the cost of your purchase is deducted from the card. For every $100 of purchases, Buen Dia earns $10. Corporate accounts can also use coffee cards for orders placed at stores and online.  Cards can be requested in many denominations.  We have $20 cards at school.

United Way Donor Option Plan
We are a member of the United Way Donor Option Plan which means that you can write Buen Día's name as your designated non-profit organization. Often companies will match the amount so we get twice as much!

Cole Hardware
When you shop at Cole Hardware, give our number *88 and Buen Día will receive a credit to our account with 2% of the amount spent.

e-scrip and Safeway
Register online and sign up Safeway and/or credit cards at escrip.com. When you shop at local participating stores - e.g. Safeway grocery with your Safeway card - a percentage of your purchases will be designated to us. If you prefer, you can sign up with your Safeway card right here at school. If you register your credit cards with them, a portion of all your purchases will be donated to us.

If you have any questions regarding these programs, have other fundraising ideas or are interested in working on the Fundraising Committee, please contact Buen Día at (415) 431-3535 or email us at admin@bdfs.org.
